OCR: Coin History [ 1921 ] In 1920, a smaller one-cent bronze coin was adopted to conform more closely to the American cent and the reverse was redesigned. Since the CANA ONE garland of maple leaves would not fit comfortably on the smaller coin, a new design featuring a CENTNL maple leaf on each side of one cent was adopted. 1920 Smaller one-cent coin adopted in 1920.
